Inadequate sleeps plagues half the worlds population, even though we all know how important it is for our well being. But when you have to figure out how to keep your business afloat day after day, it can be hard to appreciate the importance of a good night’s rest. So how do you hack your brain and get it to keep quiet long enough to let you get the necessary Zs?
1. Have your last meal at least three hours before bedtime to give your digestive system the time to work. However, make sure it’s light. And try to avoid caffeine for at least four hours before bedtime.
2. Don’t touch a laptop, phone or any other blue light-emitting screen at least two hours before bedtime. Blue lights depress the secretion of melatonin, a harmone that helps you fall and stay a sleep. But if you feel like this is too big of an ask, consider purchasing a pair of blue light-blocking glasses that filter out the harmful light from your devices. 3. Take up daytime napping. A Nasa study of 747 pilots showed that those taking a 26-minute nap daily made 34 per cent fewer mistakes at work and doubled their alertness levels. If it’s good enough for Nasa….
